What does cyber security cost for a small company?

The cost depends on company size and how much protection is needed. Basic measures such as MFA, backups and awareness training are achievable on a manageable budget — and considerably cheaper than the consequences of a successful attack, which quickly run into tens of thousands of euros.

How do I protect my company against ransomware?

The most effective measures are: regular backups held offline (the 3-2-1 rule), prompt installation of security updates, multi-factor authentication, restricted access rights and trained staff who recognise phishing email.

What is the difference between IT security and cyber security?

IT security protects all of a company’s information assets — analogue ones included. Cyber security is the part concentrating specifically on protection against attacks from the digital sphere. In practice the terms are often used interchangeably.

Do small firms need a cyber security strategy too?

Yes. Attackers use automated tools that search indiscriminately for weaknesses — company size plays no part. Small firms are often the more attractive target, precisely because they are less well protected.
